Barry the Balloon

What this was about:

Barry the Balloon was my last film as a high schooler. It focused on two things that were important to me.

  1. My flaws as a person

  2. The ever lasting grip of death the industry entertainment has on someone

The film underwent multiple brainstorming sessions but I feel like it’s my best short film so far.

I was forced to be more resourceful than I’ve been before and I honestly loved the feeling of it.

As I started campaigning for Barry, it became somewhat of a mystery around my school. We had people talking about Barry in interviews, we had Barry posters up. I loved everything about the production of Barry and I feel like it tied everything I had learned in high school together nicely. Not only everything I’ve learned from a filmmaking perspective, but from a social perspective as well.

Synopsis:

The short film follows the demise of an aspiring actor in rural Texas
